Purslane Hydrating Mist

Make this super easy hydrating mist in less than 5 minutes. You don’t need any hardcore equipments. You can choose to create this formula in cool phase or heated phase. It features hydrating and nourishing benefits of purslane along with aloe vera and glycerin.

It formulated without essential oils thus safe for sensitive skin. I also use disodium EDTA because I use herbal extracts and hydrosol. Disodium EDTA is chelating agent which capable of removing heavy metal. It also enhances preservative performances. You can definitely choose not to use disodium EDTA. Not to mention, using too much disodium EDTA can irritate skin.

What is Hydrating Mist ?

Hydrating mist is an additional products in your skincare regimen. In addition to your moisturiser, it can provide additional hydration boosts. Now, to make hydrating mist, all you need to do is prepare your distilled water or hydrosol. I am going to add plant extracts for added benefits.

I don’t use any glycerin in this formula. Our purslane extracts contains approximately of 95% glycerin and 5% purslane. If you use pure extracts, you can add 4% or 5% glycerin into the formula.

You can re-create this formula with essential oils, however, you will need solubiliser such as polysorbate 20.

Mix all of the raw materials together and stir it with overhead stirrer or hand whisk. I use overhead stirrer but you can use other equipment.

You can also use other extracts such as white willow bark or centella. We have purslane extract in stock so we used it for our mist. The preservative we use is a combination of phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin (trade name: Euxyl PE9010). The recommended use level for this preservatives is 1%. Again, feel free to use other compatible preservatives. I always recommend to use the maximum level of recommended preservatives.

Many Countries restrict the use of Phenoxyethanol up to 1%. Euxyl PE9010 is made up of 0.9% phenoxyethanol and 0.1% ethylhexylglycerin.

Make sure you check pH of your formula and their compatibility with your preservatives. Euxyl PE9010 can be used for formula with pH up to 12.
