Colloidal oatmeal has been used in century to detoxify and rejuvenate skin. It has anti inflammatory properties making it great for all skin types especially blemish skin.
I love making oatmeal cream during winter because it has high emollient properties. Furthermore, polyphenols in oatmeal is effective treatment in slowing ageing process.
To make this cream, I use Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer as the texture enhancer. It provides creamy texture with light sensory feeling. You can formulate this into lotion version by substituting Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer to glycerin and xanthan gum.
You just need to sprinkle oatmeal and Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer in the water and let it sit for 5 minutes before heat them.
In this formula, I am using caprylic/capric triglyceride and shea butter to add extra moisturising benefit. I use 5% shea butter hence I choose to use caprylic/capric triglyceride to achieve light sensory feeling that leaves skin moisturised.
Since we are using polymer, I recommend not to use stick blender. Its blade is quite sharp and might break the polymer. You can just stir it with whisk in high speed.
