Basic Moisturiser

I really love multi-purpose moisturiser where you can use it over your face and body. It is not only save up your time from changing 1 product to another product, it also has ability to hydrate your face, hand and body. I always tried to formulate lightweight moisturiser without long rubbing time. You’d probably wonder what is long rubbing time. It is basically white soapy consistency from your moisturiser when you apply it to your skin. It can be solved with the use of silicone.

However, I was not using silicone in this formula, I used Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate crosspolymer to improve its texture. I also added lightweight and fast absorbing carrier oil such as  MCT oil and sunflower oil. As for emulsifier, I used emulsifier combination of glyceryl stearate and PEG100 stearate. I was so curious to try this emulsifier because many skincare products in market is using them.

Both of cetyl alcohol and combination of glyceryl stearate and PEG100 stearate are in pastilles form. I also added 10% of carrier oil.

I sprinkled Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate into water and heat them. You can see how it looks like in the water. I love using it because of its self wetting. You don’t need any special equipement and waiting time for this type of polymer.

I mixed the heated phase with stirrer instead of homogeniser because it can break down polymer. I used my overhead stirrer and definitely you can use your whisk. This moisturiser is silky smooth yet hydrating enough for your face, hand and body.
