Niacinamide Serum

Is Niacinamide serum staples in your skincare? It is a proven ingredients in skincare to minimise appearances of large pores and improve skin texture.

There are many other benefits niacinamide can do for your skin such as minimise appearances of acne scars and hyperpigmentation. It also helps to manage acne skin.

Formulating niacinamide serum is pretty easy and straightforward. The recommended pH is 6 to 7 in order to be effective. It is heat resistant so you can either add it during the cool down or heated process. In this formula, I am going to add it during heated process.

Sprinkle hyaluronic acid into water

I am formulating 10% niacinamide serum with 1% hyaluronic acid. This is one of perks in formulating your own skincare because you can change the concentration to suit you.

When you sprinkle hyaluronic acid, it will be much easier to let it dissolve in few hours or overnight. Just make sure to sprinkle it during cool down process. You can stir it vigorously to make it dissolved.

Clumpy hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is really optional in this formula. I prefer my niacinamide serum to have gel like texture. Alternatively, you can use propanediol or glycerin with xanthan gum to thicken the formula.

I prefer Euxyl PE9010 because it can handle higher pH. You might get clumpy form from hyaluronic acid but don’t worry though, it will hydrate by itself in next few hours. You can still transfer it to bottle.

You can reduce the concentration of hyaluronic acid to make it less thicker. Please note that if you are going to add essential oil in this formula, you need to use polysorbate 20. It could cause foaming when you use the products.
